Modern Jazz Today Episode #136, this week we focused on a plethora of new releases about to hit the market and just released. We also featured a Latin block of tasty Latin jazz that offers killer tunage.
In the new discoveries’ category, we took a look at Son of the late, legendary Dr. Philip Nchipi Tabane and heir to the malombo sound that he originated and pioneered in the early 1960s. Thabang Tabane has been touring the world, playing with his father’s band and other South African luminaries since he was 8 years old we chose the track “Richard,” as our featured track off the album Matjale.
In the unearthed gems category, we featured two prominent Latin jazz luminaries Cal Tjader and Eddie Palmieri off their 1966 album El Sonido Nuevo, we featured the title track which translates to The New Soul Sound.
