Reaching into the vault we looked at “Confirmation,” off the 1955 album Daddy Plays the Horn, on Bethlehem records. A swinging project featuring: Dexter Gordon – tenor saxophone, Kenny Drew – piano, Leroy Vinnegar – bass and Lawrence Marable – drums. One thing you can always count on with Gordon recordings is they deeply swing. In the new discoveries category, we brought in sounds from the four corners of the globe, first stop; Australia to hear The Foxymorons, not to be confused with the rock group with the same name in Texas. Next up was Japan to hear nano-e & the KT line, and then onto Benin, Africa with Lionel Loueke and finally ending up in the United States with Jesse Fischer.
