Modern Jazz Today Episode #140. In the new discoveries category, we took a look at Cuong Vu 4-Tet, a 4-piece group that exemplifies the modern jazz sound.
The track “March of the Owl and the Bat”off the Change in the Air album was stunning listen of pushing the boundaries of jazz. In the unearthed gems category, we jumped into the Latin jazz lane with icon Tito Puente. He has always been a favorite for me, his infectious rhythms and positive energy always leaves you feeling uplifted. We focused on the track “Ti Mon Bo” off the album King of Kings: The Very Best of Tito Puente.
